The Visual Effects Society is pleased to bring the world’s greatest visual effects storytelling platform to the Rafael Film Center in lovely Marin County, California. The Northern California Bay area is, indeed, the home of some of the best visual effects artists and companies whose work has entertained a global audience.
As always, VES presents an outstanding group of visual effects professionals to share their experiences with you. Last year, when Eric Brevig introduced Pearl Harbor he summed up the essence of our festivals when he said, “We are here to discuss the visual effects from Pearl Harbor, how we did it, the choices we made, why we made those choices, and especially what didn’t go easily. If it’s just the stuff that looks good and it was easy… nobody wants to hear about it.” Eric, you couldn’t have said it better. This is what VES Festivals are all about.
The Visual Effects Society wishes to welcome Douglas Trumbull as the society’s newest Honorary Member. Honorary Membership is the highest distinction that VES can bestow. Doug joins Linwood Dunn, Peter Ellenshaw, Ray Harryhausen and Albert Whitlock as our most honored contributors to the art and science of visual effects.
