Universal Virtual Stage 1 (UVS1) is a dedicated, pre-rigged, pre-calibrated virtual production environment with motion capture, camera tracking, pre-visualization and related technologies for commercials, television and features.  This project transformed Sound Stage 36 at Universal Studios into a secure, self-contained facility with a green screen cyc, two editing bays with 60 terabytes of online storage and production office space. The stage, and its technology, is a resource for the visual effects community so that all VFX companies can offer their clients the advantages of a major studio as part of their visual effects package.
“Beyond this turnkey facility allowing clients to walk on to and start shooting, the technology and equipment can be moved to other stages and locations on the Universal lot or the world,” said Jeff Berry, Executive Director, Universal Studios Virtual Effects & Production Services for Universal.
