Alan Markowitz

An award-winning industry veteran, with over 40 years of VFX production experience, Alan continues to provide the industry with a wealth of talent & expertise as Visual Effects Producer for his company, Visceral Image Productions. Specializing in “Giant-Screen” cinema, since 1993, Alan’s work can be seen in over 80 films produced for the IMAX^® screen, and over 300 film productions seen in destination cinemas, theme parks, and in special venues around the world. As a VFX Producer, his vast knowledge, combined with innovative, "hands-on" experiences in both, traditional filmmaking, and contemporary 2D & 3D digital production disciplines, provide him with the ability to effectively collaborate with creative talent, such as artists, technicians, producers, and directors alike, while implementing a “Gold-Standard” for giant-screen filmmakers.

In 2023, Alan was the recipient of the GSCA Achievement Award for Best Visual Effects for Destination Cinema’s giant-screen feature film, “GRAND CANYON: RIVERS OF TIME.”  In 2017 and 2019, Alan was the recipient of the GSCA Achievement Award for Best Visual Effects for MacGillivray Freeman Films’ 3D IMAX film, “DREAM BIG: ENGINEERING OUR WORLD.” and Cosmic Picture’s 3D IMAX film, “SUPERPOWER DOGS.” In 2008, Alan received the highly coveted GSCA Special Achievement in Filmmaking Award, as well as a nomination for a Visual Effects Society (VES) Award for his opening title “Bubble” sequence for MacGillivray Freeman Films’ “GRAND CANYON: RIVER AT RISK 3D,” and in 2006, Alan was the winner of the VES award for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Special Venue Project for his body of work on the Walt Disney Pictures giant-screen IMAX film, “ROVING MARS.”
