MY JOURNEY IN AI with FREDDY CHÁVEZ OLMOS

VES Vancouver invite members to join us in a live Zoom presentation followed by a Q+A with Freddy Chávez Olmos!

Freddy brings nearly two decades of experience in the film and television industry. Born in Puebla, Mexico, Freddy studied special effects make-up in Los Angeles and received mentorship from the legendary Dick Smith, known for his effects work on the iconic horror film “THE EXORCIST.”
With his first short film as a co-writer/director, “SHHH”, Freddy received numerous international awards, and the project gained 1 million views upon its online debut. Notably, Guillermo del Toro praised the film for its compelling visual style.
As a member of the Directors Guild of Canada, Freddy directed for the CW and Netflix’s anthology series, “TWO SENTENCE HORROR STORIES,” and contributed as a writer to the acclaimed Mexican horror anthology series “LA HORA MARCADA,” released in Halloween 2023.
Having worked in the visual effects industry in Vancouver, Freddy has been involved in productions helmed by Guillermo del Toro, Neill Blomkamp, Robert Rodriguez, Tim Burton, and Christopher Nolan. He has also been a part of Oscar and Emmy-winning VFX studios, including Double Negative, Industrial Light & Magic, Method Studios, Weta FX, Image Engine, and Scanline VFX. Recently, he contributed to the popular STAR WARS series “OBI WAN-KENOBI” and the third season of “THE MANDALORIAN.”
Presently, Freddy holds the position of Creative Director for Artificial Intelligence at Boxel Studio and is a sought-after guest speaker at prestigious venues, including San Diego’s Comic-Con, TEDx, ACM Siggraph, and Spark Fx.
