Tim McLaughlinTim McLaughlin is an Associate Professor at Texas A&M University and founding Head of the Department of Visualization (2008-2020). Prior to joining the faculty at Texas A&M University, Tim worked in the visual effects and animation industries for thirteen years. At Industrial Light & Magic his work focused on digital creature development including rigging, deformations, dynamics, and production workflow on large feature film projects. His credit list includes 15 theatrically released feature films including ‘Star Wars: Episode I’, ‘War of the Worlds’, ‘Van Helsing’ and ‘Mars Attacks!’.
At Texas A&M, Tim’s research interests focus on developing systems for real-time collaborative design, virtual production, perception-based animation and evidence-based methods for determining the most effective visual fidelity for education, training, and simulation. He teaches at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and supervises both research thesis and MFA works. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Visual Effects Society, and is an ACM SIGGRAPH Pioneer.
