Ricardo Andrade

Ricardo combines a rare blend of artist, entrepreneur, visionary and innovator. As President & Creative Director of Pixeldust Studios, he is living his dream, leading a world-class animation and motion graphic company that serves a range of broadcast, corporate and non-profit clients. Ricardo’s work is showcased in recent, high profile television projects such as PBS’s Fabric of the Cosmos, National Geographic’s Alien Deep, and the History Channel’s American Daredevil. As the industry transforms, his vision has expanded to include video production and original content, interactive services and mobile apps.
Prior to launching Pixeldust Studios, Ricardo was an Emmy award-winning visual effects artist and Director of Art & Animation for National Geographic Television. Under Andrade’s supervision, the full service art and animation department provided concept development, 3D animation, visual effects supervision and digital compositing for more than 90 hours of programming annually for National Geographic Channel, MSNBC, PBS, and Fox Specials.
A native of El Salvador, Ricardo began his career in Mexico City’s television industry. In 1993, Ricardo’s talents led him to Digital FX, Inc. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he worked as a visual effects artist. Eventually, he was elevated to Senior Editor and Post-Production Supervisor where he managed client and vendor relations for hundreds of commercials, PSA’s, and industrial spots. Clients included Exxon Mobil, Blue Cross Blue Shield, MCI WorldCom, Harley Davison, Shell and Midstream Enterprises. Andrade also worked on long-form programming for Spike TV, Discovery Health Channel and the local PBS local affiliate.
Over his career, Ricardo has garnered 36 Emmy Nominations and 13 Emmy Awards, including three for direction, seven for art direction, and two for editing. He is a member of the prestigious Visual Effects Society, member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Science and The American Advertising Federation.
