Director | Acquisitions and Development Producer | Writer | Visual Effects Supervisor | Content Creator

Chris Hummel

Chris Hummel has over thirty years of experience creating content for themed entertainment productions. These include several live action visual effects films, traditionally animated motion pictures, high profile commercials as well as 4K 3D HFR (High Frame Rate) special venue (Theme Parks/Museums) productions. Three years with Digital Domain, eight years with Walt Disney Feature Animation, three years with EA Sports and more recently, artistic and technical supervision for the Despicable Me venue at Universal Studios Florida.

During the Despicable Me project, Chris was the liaison between Illumination Entertainment (IP holder), Universal Creative and Reel FX production management. He managed the creation of Oculus VR / AR environments from architectural AutoCAD and Revit files in order to integrate 3D projection mapped media and provided "line-of-sight" media approvals before construction began. He also made several visits to the test venue to continue projection testing of the media and to design production workflows for contractors, audio/video designers, ride engineers and media vendors. Chris was also responsible for directing all of the creative and technical departments delivering this media at Reel FX in Dallas. He continued by technically and artistically verifying all art on multiple displays and projectors at the venue site. These included large format, HFR (High Frame Rate) images being projected on very large, shaped screens with the 7th Sense Media Server and twin 4K Christie projectors. His hard work earned him the 2013 VES Award for Best Visual Effects in a Special Venue production for Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem 3D.

“I truly believe that my opportunity with ITEC Entertainment is the culmination of more than twenty-five years of experience in live action visual effects, feature length animated films, interactive games and themed entertainment design. Moving forward I will combine my artistic and technical expertise to teach, learn and create ultimate guest experiences.”
