HONOREES:

Vico Sharabani – VES Empire Award

Vico Sharabani, Creative Director, Director, VFX Supervisor, and Founder of The Artery, will receive the 2024 Empire Award in recognition of his trailblazing work in the advertising and film industry for over 26 years. Sharabani is one of the most notable Flame artists in the world and has mentored hundreds of artists over his career in New York City. His visual effects work includes commercials for Fortune 500 companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Nike, and AT&T, music videos for Beyoncé, Coldplay, Niki Minaj, KanYe West, Bob Dylan, and work on dozens of films such as SMILE, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Marriage Story, The Farewell, many projects with Steven Soderbergh, Ocean’s 8, and more.

Dr. Russ Andersson – VES Empire Technical Achievement

Dr. Russ Andersson, inventor of SynthEyes tracking software, will receive the 2024 Empire Technology Award. Andersson is a distinguished computer scientist and expert in real-time computer vision and robotics. In 2003 Andersson began developing SynthEyes, an innovative 3D camera tracking software application that has made its mark on Hollywood blockbusters and famous TV shows including Black Panther, The Guardians of the Galaxy series, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Pan’s Labyrinth, Lost, Stranger Things, and Game of Thrones. In 2023 Andersson and SynthEyes joined VFX software company Boris FX.
